Monk and his friends arrive in New York looking for the man, and they are informed that Trudy has been murdered. When they arrived at the hotel, the Latvian ambassador who was staying with them was killed. The monk saw the murderer, but only his ears. So he's trying to help the NYPD solve the case, hoping they'll help them find the man. When Monk goes downtown, he gets lost and gets caught up in the chaos. Meanwhile, Stottelmeyer learned that the NYPD knew where the man was and was keeping them from seeing him.
