Black Books Season 1

Bernard Black (Dylan Moran) is London's most outrageous bookstore owner. His bookstore is filthy, its hours are arbitrary, and its finances are in disarray. Bernard himself was unkempt, a heavy smoker and drinker, with a short temper, who drove away customers with a megaphone and a broom when he wanted to close, and refused to sell out books because he was too lazy to order them. Fran (Tamsin Greig), the female owner of the gift shop next door to the bookstore, often comes to help Berner look at the shop and is Berner's only friend. She likes to collect all kinds of weird things, and her love life is in a mess.
